Qing is a Chinese theatre director and playwright working in China and the US. She is currently the assistant to Producing Artistic Director at Arkansas Repertory Theatre. She wrote and directed The Magic Lotus Lantern and Monkey King for Texas Shakespeare Festival’s 2008 and 2006 season. She also wrote and directed The Land of the Dragon for Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s 2006 AIE tour and directed One Ninth for the Rep's 2008 AIE tour. Her other directing credits include: The Bear, The Proposal, The Danger of Tobacco, The Blind, The Glass Menagerie, The King Stag and Our Town, all staged in Beijing at various venues. In Spring 2008, she directed her own English translation of the Chinese play, The Wild Wind (Kuang Biao), while a guest director at Wittenberg University in Ohio. She has also assistant-directed on many productions such as Les Miserable (Bob Hupp), Tartuffe (Cliff Baker), Big Sur, Fiddler on the Roof and The Tempest (Joseph Graves) among many others. Her acting credits include: Dorine in Tartuffe, Confucius in The Land of the Dragon, Smeraldina in The King Stag, Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town and Ferdinand in The Tempest. Many of her Chinese translations of English language books and plays have been published in China.
Xiaoqing graduated with honors in 2004 from Peking University, Beijing China with dual B.A. in English Language and Literature, and Art. She will pursue her M.F.A in directing at Central Academy of Drama in fall 2009.
